We took a trip to San Diego recently, and I noticed something there, they simply don’t care about federal law. I mean NY is a Democrat state yet they vote more republican, and California has a devout Republican Governor and yet they vote more Democrat. For example did you know that in many areas of California they have marijuana vending machines? Seriously it’s like Coke, Pepsi, weed. All a citizen needs to do is go to a doctor and say ouch my back hurts, then they get a card for two hundred dollars and they can either use a vending machine or they can go to an outlet and pick up their prescription. Now this is state law which contradicts federal law, and at any point DEA officers can come and seize the medical records and supply of these California state certified medical marijuana outlets. So in essence the DEA comes in and legally breaks California state law, pretty messed up huh?
Looking at the way California runs and how smoothly it runs, it’s really no surprise to see such good legislation bills being written there AB 2026 being no exception. What the bill started as was a study on what the economic effects would be, then it was amended and steam rolled into an all out legalization of online poker in the entire state of California. Most oddly was that the congress passed it right through no problem, so to them I say bravo. Then as we should all feel stupid if we didn’t expect it, the stuffy senate shot it back down to be rewritten. Now it’s back to square one on the bill it’s turned back into a study, yet another pointless setback.
Look this would have been a grand old chance to test the result of legal online poker gambling. The state obviously strongly supports it, so if the worst happens as many politicians say it will then California has nobody to blame but itself. However if what the pro legalization side sais is true then everything will be fine, and one way or the other we will know and the bitching can stop!
