Online Poker Tells

Let's discuss a couple of obvious tells during online poker. You may not have facial expressions or body language to work with, but you've still got lots to work with.

  • Chat. Sounds silly, but if someone's been blabbing on in the chat box and suddenly stops, it's most likely because they've got a good hand to play with. Also, look for a whiner. Seems obvious enough, but if someone's doing a lot of griping, they're usually so frustrated that you should have no trouble bluffing.
  • Auto Plays. You can tell if someone has clicked on an auto play box like "call any" because they act within a millisecond of their turn. So you can assume that they have a decent hand. It's never a good idea to take advantage of that box unless you're bluffing.
