Contrary to what you may see in the movies or in television, it is never a good idea to drink while you're playing poker. There are a few reasons for this, the most important being that you just don't give a flying fart. I love playing poker with friends of mine when they're drunk because it's the easiest way to swindle them out of their money.
Here's what happens:
You sign into the poker room. You have a beer or two and start winning some serious money. You have some more beer. Start feeling a little toasty. Start going in on EVERY hand, because you've drank your inhibitions away. Start losing. Get pissed. Start going in on REALLY crappy hands because you're getting desperate to win. Lose more money. Drink more. Get a pair and become ecstatic over it.. Go all in. Lose. Wake up the next morning and realize you've gotta put a second mortgage on your house to pay for all you lost the night before.
