Oh man, can Absolute Poker ever get a break? There’s big stink over the online poker room’s latest software update which threw off people’s AVG anti-virus programs.
Now originally, the big ordeal with Absolute and the cheating scandal was that there was a software program used to view peoples hole cards.. and with some online poker rooms, there have even been pro players contacted about appearing on a tv show to talk about their career… and when they attempt to view the website and contact these people, they get a virus put on their computer which allows some hacker to view your crap.
So understandably, with the site’s reputation, people were a little freaked out.
There have been a lot of rumors about one of the world’s most successful online players, the Swede Mohammad Kowssarie (The Terrorist, Terror of Sweden, Fast Freddie). There is speculation that he won millions using this type of software. They say that Mohammad, with the help of a Russian computer expert, have succeeded to get into the opponents computers. They used a security hole in MSN messenger to get in and get access to the opponent’s cards. The cheating was done at absolute top-level poker against the worlds best poker players. Mohammad won the biggest pot in online poker history against ”bad_ip”, Johnny Lodden, $465.451 with tree aces and a jack kicker. Mohammad plays regularly at Full Tilt against players like Phil Ivey, Mike Matusow, Gus Hansen and Howard Lederer.
What’s really scarey to me is that I use MSN messenger all the time.. is it possible for someone to get on there and steal my info, or is this all a load of bull?
All I will say is that even with this susceptibility to some sort of virus, I’ve never really lost much money in online poker. So perhaps the scare of this software is just really getting to people that can’t play worth a damn.
