The poker players alliance has started a nifty little thing. It can show you when and where a politician has voted for or against an online poker bill. This is good when you are weighing your decisions over who you want to represent you. My grandfather always had a saying never trust a man who won’t shake your hand or doesn’t play poker. He had a grand old world war two veteran ideology, I think we could all learn something from his generation.
Anyways, the PPA has set this up and has a staff paying close attention to updates and new happenings on Capitol Hill. I however would love to see other sites like this start to form. Like a statistics counter showing every time a politician has been caught in a sleazy bathroom soliciting young men to come into their stall, or maybe every time one of these bastards has bought a prostitute, possibly something showing every time they’ve been caught with a DWI or drug charges. Or maybe even a scale that could tell us every time one of our elected workers of the people has been caught or accused of taking bribes and kick backs. These are the kind of things I’m really interested in.
This could be just what America needs to show that the people in our highest offices are our biggest bigots and criminals, where the stakes are low cause you rarely get caught, and the payouts are high, and every payout is just a vote away. “America”, Mark Twain once said, is a nation without a distinct criminal class "with the possible exception of Congress." I think people put entirely too much faith in our politicians these days.
It seems as though we the opposition show time and time again the corruption that is our daily life in Washington and most times the proof just goes ignored. My big question is do YOU believe that it stops here? Do they outlaw poker and then that is the end of it? Or are guns next, or maybe your right to free speech? When do the lines get drawn and then crossed?
