No Ladbrokes in Norway?

I have to say, as much as I gripe about U.S. internet gambling legislation, Norway has it just as bad.. It’s quite something for the online poker operators trying to get a license there.
Some time ago, Ladbrokes tried to get a license there and was denied because of some Slots Machine Case, where it was decided that all slot machines must be put in charge of the monopoly, Norsk Tipping. It’s complete bullcrap.
So the company has been filing appeals and what have you to try to get a license there, under the argument that the slots machine case is irrelevant to their licenseing.
Unfortunately, they lost and were find some one hundred euro. It’s terrible.
I think at this point, it’s not even the matter of a business move with Ladbrokes, so much as it is a matter of principle. To be honest, not a huge majority of internet gaming comes from Norway, so it would seem that the company would have more luck keeping a license through the UK. Still they continue to fight this monopoly, and lose tons of money doing it, and I’ve gotta hand it to them for determination.
Ladbrokes is a leading betting company in the UK, and they own over 2200 retail betting shops. This company’s origin stretches back to 1886, they employ more than 14,000 people in five countries, and have a leading online operation in the UK, Ireland, Spain, and Belgium.
Currently, as far as poker goes, they’re running a 30% cash back in rakeback, a welcome bonus of up to $500, $500,000 Ladbrokes Freeroll tournament, lucky chips with up to 500 winning chips a day, a bad beat progressive jackpot, a refer a friend and loyalty program.
I applaud their efforts in Norway and will stay tuned to see how things progress. They obviously show no signs of slowing down.
