There's been much talk lately that playing poker online has given virtual players an advantage over live players. I am forced to agree. It is hard to dispute that playing on the internet is one of the best ways to hone your skills. Accordingly, the WSOP seems to be getting better players as the years go by. Because of the lack of obvious tells that you see in live poker, online gamers are trained to be more aggressive. I propose that live competitors start playing in the poker rooms if they hope to rank high in this year's tournament.
There are all sorts of resources coming in to help players. There are strategy guides which can be found anywhere, especially on the internet. Some WSOP competitors have enlisted to help of counseling services. These don't amount to squat if players have not been introduced to the constant all-in betting of online poker. It used to be that you would only see players throwing themselves all-in maybe once per game. That was fun. It was exciting when that happened. Not anymore. Online gamers have brought new meaning to high stakes poker. Live players had better prepare themselves for the tempest that will be leashed upon them. Again, make use of the poker rooms. You can play for change or even fake money, which is strongly advised if you are unfamiliar with online gambling. With sites sponsoring some of its top high stakes members, I fear for any live player that has not had the experience of the virtual game. I tell you, these people are out for blood! They will do horrible things to your psyche! You'll find yourself folding on great hands. You'll go all-in because you can't take it anymore.
Of course, I speak as one who has never played in the WSOP. I don't doubt that the choice of live players will prove to be stiff competition. Live players generally have a few years on their belt. I simply finding myself chanting, "Beware, beware, bewaaaare.."
