The iPoker Network

Playtech has done considerably well for itself this year, signing 4 new license agreements, and seeing an unprecedented increase in profits. As such, we see more online poker rooms joining the iPoker network, probably to keep their heads above water in such a competitive industry, during such economic struggles.
The iPoker network, aside from providing a long list of enjoyable online poker rooms, offers a series of poker tournaments to get in on, like the third annual ECOOP that features 14 different tournaments, and satellite qualifiers.
One of the leading poker networks in the industry, Playtech’s cardrooms offer four different poker games, Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo and Seven Card Stud. Players of all skill levels can enjoy these websites, and some of my favorites reside in this network.
In addition to offering various tournaments and cardrooms, the iPoker network reports on some of the history of poker, which I find interesting, especially in time’s where America’s favorite pastime is considered immoral by the legislative majority.
If you read some of the history, you’ll learned that poker saw its first explosion in popularity as early as the 1800’s, although it has existed since B.C. Stud and Draw poker originated during the 1800s, where the game was considered the favorite pastime of American citizens. Unfortunately during these times, the game was associated with some unsavory characters. Despite this, American soldiers picked up the game in the 1930’s, where seven card stud became the most popular form of poker, and was enjoyed through to the 1970’s. This, of course, was when Texas Hold’em rose in popularity, and has since been the game of choice of the majority of poker players. They say that this is mostly due to the speed of the game, but I think it has a great deal to do with the strategy involved. It requires a great deal more of psychology than seven card, in my opinion anyway.Since these times, Poker has become the sport of the average American, and the iPoker network will continue to provide the means to play our favorite games.
