The PPA Knows What They're Doing

There are a few running for election that the Poker Players Alliance is proud to get behind.

There's Obama, of course, whom the online poker community is backing for the most part. He's taken some heat because his campaign has said that they do not support online gambling in the past. However, Obama has since said that he would encourage studies on the regulation of online poker, sports betting and other forms of gambling. Being himself an accomplished poker player, Obama has stressed the importance of allowing voters to come to their own conclusions about gambling.

There's also Barney Frank who is now receiving tons of support for his ongoing fight to have online poker legalized. He's proposed bills to have online gaming regulated and to stop the UIGEA from being enforced. He takes a very common sense stance on the issue, and therefore has an entire following of supporters now.

"Frank is one of the most liberal members of the House, and has been outspoken on many civil rights issues, including gay rights. In 1987, he spoke publicly about his homosexuality for the first time. He said in a 1996 interview: 'I'm used to being in the minority. I'm a left-handed gay Jew. I've never felt, automatically, a member of any majority.'"

Look at the people on the Poker Players Alliance Board of Directors. They are all very intellegent and very accomplished people. The Chairman, Alfonse D'Amato served in the senate, as a conservative republican from 1981-1999. Greg Dinkin is a published author and a professional player, Chris Ferguson is a WSOP champion, Allyn Jaffrey Shulman is a legal analyst and consultant, Linda Johnson a publisher, Howard Lederer a WPT champion, Mary Magazine is an attorney and magistrate, Rich Muny is a mechanical engineer, and Greg Raymer is a lawyer.

It's good to know that those fighting for internet gambling are for the most part more educated than most currently in office. That, of course, is sarcasm.
