WSOP Legends

There’s a lot of online poker players out there at the world series these days huh? Lots of unprofessional are going to the top and becoming legends. Unfortunately sometime this turns the pros into celebrity icons quickly cast aside. Doyle Brunson, Sammy Farha, Jesus Fish Chris Ferguson (the chip and a chair legend) have all become talking points for people who tend to only play online poker. It makes them seem more seasoned to know their names. Or so they think. To date every time I see some snot nosed kid straight off the internet go all in against Doyle with a crap hand it makes me want to puke. But even the seasoned veterans are gonna get whacked in the world series of poker when so many people are firing all-ins at em all night long. As we all know with online poker, skill will only take you so far. Sometimes it’s hard to play the player and not the cards when everyone around you is a dumbass. There was a time when playing a dumbass was a good thing. Now playing several hundred dumbasses is different. They have strength in numbers. Do DO do do (that was the twilight zone music by the way. There’s no right way to type it is there).

Sometimes however the good ole poker player does win the night. Phil Tom for example just picked up a lovely bracelet. He’s not so famous as a Jesus fish, but he is a seasoned sitter of the felt. Not so much the keyboard. His son was of course PotRipper, a man I’ve never been able to hate. Mostly because I wasn’t one of the people he cheated against. Reason two is I don’t know if I wouldn’t have done the same thing as him given the power and opportunity. I don’t like cheating, but I am broke.

It does kind of ruin the game though I think. I’m quite sure his name was brought up in congress was coming up with reasons to ban internet gambling. Because the heads and creators of the world’s largest gambling sites are in the high numbers, they could be cheating all of us……….give me a break.
